Hyundai Getz Autocar COTY

The Hyundai Getz won its second prominent award in recent times when it rolled away with the title of 'Car of the Year' at the 4th CNBC-TV18 Autocar Auto Awards 2005. But again, it was the Fusion that took home the honour for 'Best Driver's Car', just like it almost beat the Getz to the title at the BS Motoring Awards for being the more 'Fun to Drive' automobile. Seems like the Ford super-hatch / mini-SUV is one sweet drive.

Superb choice

The Skoda Superb picked up the prize for the best car at the Overdrive Car of the Year Awards 2005, among other laurels.

Since its launch in India, the Superb has had to battle being perceived as overpriced in the Indian marketplace, inspite of being an extremely enviable machine . Something the Getz and the Fusion will be familiar with.

Overdrive Awards 2005

After Business Standard Motoring, it's the turn of Overdrive Magazine to announce their Car of the Year Awards. The (and I quote) 'nation's most coveted awards and prestigious awards for automotive excellence' will be up for grabs in New Delhi on January 8, 2005.

The Hyundai Getz and Elantra and the Ford Fusion are in the reckoning for the Overdrive Car of the Year 2005.

You can cast your vote too. If your choice matches the jury's, you could win yourself a Ferrari.

The Getz gets it!

The Hyundai Getz is the Business Standard Motoring Car of the Year 2005...but only just. The jury seemed hardpressed to give the award to the Ford Fusion, but the Hyundai super-hatch won on the basis of a couple of parameters that admittedly get more weightage in the BS Motoring COTY methodology - fuel efficiency and price.

Previous winners have included the Santro, the Ikon, the Alto and the Palio.
