Hyundai Motor India, which has stormed the Indian passenger car market having sold 6,00,000 cars in 6 years, has now emerged as the second largest corporate entity in Tamil Nadu in terms of turnover and net profit. HMIL, India’s second largest car manufacturer, has clocked a record 130% jump in net profit at Rs 378.9 crore in ‘03-04 over Rs 164.8 crore achieved in the previous year.
Driven by Maruti, Hyundai and Tata Motors, car sales soared 24.1 per cent in September 2004 for the sixth consecutive month, raising hopes of good second quarter profit for carmakers.
This is definitely something that car owners in Chennai could do with. Aimed at solving the problem of an economy that combines booming auto sales with severe water shortage, the Chinese have introduced a car wash system that uses only 300 ml of water per car!
